Seven wedding ceremony locations and limits
The city lists Quarry Pond, Cedar Walk summerhouse, Point Pleasant summerhouse, the field beside Point Pleasant Battery, Fort Ogilvie, Prince of Wales Tower and Purcell’s Landing as ceremony locations. Space is first come, first served through the booking process. Apply early; availability is not guaranteed.
The park accommodates ceremonies only. There are no reception facilities and outdoor receptions are not allowed. Do not scatter confetti or similar material. Although vehicles are generally not allowed, the wedding rules permit one vehicle to transport attendees or materials to and from the site. Arrange the required pass.
Picnics, larger groups and barbecue restrictions
Barbecues are allowed only between Sailor’s Memorial Way and the shoreline. Open fires and charcoal-style barbecues are prohibited. Do not read a picnic-site listing as permission to cook anywhere in the park.
The source names Black Rock Beach picnic area, Point Pleasant Summerhouse, Sailor’s Memorial Way areas 1 to 7 and the tidal lawn for groups of roughly 50 to 100 people. These are source-listed group areas, not guaranteed capacities or reserved facilities without approval.
Charity walks, theatre and filming
Run or walk applications must include a detailed route map. Participants should travel no more than two abreast. Flagging and painting routes are prohibited, so use people to guide participants where needed.
Theatre groups must coordinate with Shakespeare by the Sea to avoid rehearsal and performance conflicts at Cambridge Battery. Filming uses the municipal filming office. Cameras must be stand-alone or carried; tracks, trailers, tents and extra production supplies are not allowed in the park.
Applications, public access and blackout dates
Only not-for-profit events with no participation fee are considered. Off-trail activities, bicycle races, tents, inflatables, obstacle courses and live or recorded music are not permitted. Complete the event application after checking that your proposal fits these limits.
You cannot rope off an area or exclude the public. Remove all debris and restore the site after the event. Damage costs are charged to the organizer, and electricity is not supplied. Vehicle passes are collected at the maintenance office, 5718 Point Pleasant Drive, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bookings are not accepted for November 11 or December 24 through January 2. The city can refuse an event. Treat an application as a request until approval is issued.
