Download and complete the Sport Field Application and the sport-field setup diagram. Email fields@halifax.ca or call 902-497-7089. Paper applications can be dropped at the Customer Service Centre, 40 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The service standard is to acknowledge messages within one business day and process a new rental request within three business days when all required documents are complete. An unavailable field can delay the request while staff look for alternatives. A service target is not a confirmed reservation.

2026 hourly field charges and extra costs
The rate depends on field class and whether the renter is adult, youth or corporate. The comparison below includes every class in the 2026 sport-field table. HST is extra. Premier-staffed fields cost more than unstaffed premier fields. Youth greenspace is listed free, but that does not remove booking or insurance requirements.
The sport-field page lists $25 per key and $100 plus HST per event for special-event tents, with other fees where applicable. The general booking page describes key money as a deposit that can be lost if keys are not returned. Confirm the contract’s key conditions. Music can trigger licensing fees.

Insurance, payment and records
Municipal rentals generally require $2 million in general liability insurance unless a different rule is stated. The city links to an optional event-insurance provider; you can ask another insurer for suitable coverage. The linked program is not administered or subsidized by the municipality.
Scheduling accepts e-transfer by arrangement, cards by phone or through MyRec, and cheques. Make cheques payable to Halifax Regional Municipality and put the contract number on the note line. Keep the contract, later changes, extra requests and cancellation records in case billing needs correcting.

Changes, cancellation and unplayable fields
No amendments or cancellations are processed when requested within 10 business days of the event. Submit changes earlier. Applicable credits or refunds are processed at month-end.
For an unplayable-field credit, provide condition information and a photo if possible. The source’s service standard is the end of the following business day for the condition request, with any approved refund processed at month-end. Field-condition updates are normally posted by 3 p.m. weekdays and noon on weekends and holidays. Check those notices before play.
