We’re hiring on-call Snow Shovellers for seasonal snow removal work in Halifax and Dartmouth. You’ll help keep walkways, entrances, and steps clear of snow and ice through a Nova Scotia winter.
Whether you have snow removal experience or are looking for your first outdoor labour job, we welcome your application. Bring a strong work ethic, reliable availability, and a willingness to work outdoors - we’ll provide training on site expectations and safe work procedures.
What We Offer
- $23 per hour, paid weekly.
- Transportation to and from job sites: Pickup and drop-off are available if you don’t have your own vehicle.
- Training provided: No previous snow removal experience or certifications required.

What You’ll Do
- Shovel snow from walkways, entrances, steps, and other designated areas.
- Spread salt or ice melt where required.
- Follow site instructions and safety procedures.
- Work safely in cold, wet, snowy, and icy conditions.
- Respond promptly when contacted about available work and arrive on time for accepted shifts.
- Work independently or alongside other crew members.
What You’ll Need
- Ability to safely navigate snowy or icy walkways, steps, and uneven surfaces and perform repetitive shovelling, bending, lifting, and carrying during outdoor shifts.
- Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in winter weather.
- Availability on short notice, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- A strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and punctuality.
- A respectful, cooperative approach and willingness to follow instructions.
- A commitment to working safely in winter conditions.
Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction labour, or other outdoor work experience is an asset, but not required. No certifications or personal vehicle are required.
Schedule and Seasonal Employment
This is a temporary, seasonal, on-call position. You’ll be contacted when snow removal work is available.
There are no set or guaranteed weekly hours. Work depends on weather conditions and operational needs, and shift times and hours will vary. Employment ends when the winter season concludes, late spring 2027.
