We're looking for someone who can really write.
Someone who can take a complicated RFP, figure out what matters, ask the right questions, and turn a lot of information into a clear, compelling proposal. Someone who notices the little things, keeps track of the big things, and genuinely enjoys bringing it all together.
At Capstone Project Solutions, we're looking for a Proposal & Strategic Opportunities Lead to join our team. You'll play an important role in helping us find and pursue new opportunities, leading proposals and grant submissions, and making sure we're putting our best work forward. This is a role that calls for strong writing, good judgement, organization, creativity, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves. You'll work closely with our leadership team, project managers, and subject matter experts, bringing their knowledge and experience together into submissions that make a strong case for Capstone.
What You'll Be Doing
- Writing proposals that stand out. You'll lead proposals and grant applications from start to finish, turning complex information into clear, compelling submissions. You'll bring strong writing, attention to detail, and an eye for design to create polished, professional proposals that look as good as they read.
- Finding opportunities worth pursuing. You'll research and track new opportunities, help assess which ones make sense for Capstone, and keep our pipeline organized and up to date.
- Keeping everyone on track. There are a lot of moving pieces behind a strong proposal. You'll coordinate contributors, manage deadlines, follow up on outstanding information, and make sure submissions meet every requirement before they go out the door. You'll also keep our records organized and track proposal activity and results.
- Helping us tell our story. You'll also have a hand in Capstone's marketing and communications, including managing social media, contributing to website content and marketing materials, and helping us get more value from our memberships and partnerships.
- Leading and supporting others. You'll provide direction to teammates contributing to proposals and support our Events & Member Benefits Coordinator as their direct manager. And because we're always looking for ways to improve, you'll help refine our processes, tools, and templates along the way.
Who We're Looking For
You need to be an excellent writer with a great eye for detail and design.
You know how to make complicated information clear, build a convincing argument, and present it in a way that's easy to follow. You care about the words on the page, but also how everything comes together visually. You might come from a background in proposals, communications, marketing, business development, grant writing, or another field where strong writing and presentation skills are central to your work.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in a role involving writing, editing, and developing professional materials.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, turning complex information into clear, compelling content that speaks to the intended audience.
- A strong eye for design and layout, making documents look polished and professional, with clean layouts, thoughtful formatting, and consistent branding.
- Experience creating professional materials, whether that's proposals, reports, presentations, marketing collateral, or digital content.
- Excellent attention to detail, noticing the missing requirement, inconsistent formatting, awkward sentence, or number that doesn't add up.
- Strong organizational skills, managing multiple deadlines, coordinate contributors, and keep things moving.
- A collaborative, resourceful approach, being comfortable asking questions, taking initiative, and working with people across different roles.
- Confidence using digital tools, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams. Experience with Canva or similar design tools would be an asset.
- Knowledge on how to work with AI, seeing the value to work more efficiently but bringing critical thinking, writing ability and judgement to the table.
Experience with proposals, RFPs, grant applications, government procurement, or project management would be an asset.
