Original job description

Bluenose Accounting is a growing three-partner accounting firm located in Bedford (Larry Uteck Blvd). We are a team of friendly and approachable professionals who value teamwork, professional growth, and strong relationships with our clients.

Our clients include individuals, small and medium-sized owner-managed businesses, and non-profit organizations across a diverse range of industries. This provides our team members with the opportunity to work on a wide variety of accounting, tax, assurance, and business advisory matters.

We work closely with our clients throughout all stages of their growth – from start-up to expansion and beyond. We believe accounting should be more than a once-a-year experience, and we take pride in providing practical, timely, and personalized advice that helps our clients achieve their goals.

At Bluenose Accounting, we are committed to providing quality professional services while maintaining a supportive and collaborative work environment. We offer our team members opportunities to develop their technical skills, gain exposure to a diverse client base, and build meaningful, long-term professional relationships.

Position

This position will involve a diverse range of responsibilities, including accounting, bookkeeping, and personal and corporate tax preparation. The successful candidate will work closely with both our clients and our team of professionals, contributing to a collaborative and efficient workflow.

As our firm continues to grow, there is potential for this position to develop into a practice management role, with increasing responsibility for workflow coordination, client relationships, and supporting the overall operations of the firm.

Previous experience in public practice or with an accounting firm is an asset. Candidates interested in pursuing the CPA designation will be supported by the firm at the appropriate time.

Bluenose Accounting uses QuickBooks, CaseWare, and Taxprep. Experience with these software programs is a strong asset, although we are also willing to provide training to the right candidate.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive employee benefits package, including medical coverage, a Health Spending Account (HSA), a 3% RRSP matching program, and paid overtime compensation. We offer a flexible work schedule, including reduced working hours during the summer and fall. The firm covers annual CPA membership fees, as well as course and examination fees for successfully completed CPA courses. As our firm continues to grow, there will be opportunities for career advancement, professional development, and increased responsibility.

Only qualified candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
